Falken Wildpeak AT3W provides outstanding traction on wet and dry ground. Thanks to severe snow-rated rubber, its winter performance isn’t less than wet or dry performance. Furthermore, unlike most all-terrain tires, Falken Wildpeak AT3W offers decent handling and quick steering response. Besides that, its mild off-road capability is enormous. Though worth reminding, its mud and rock performance are relatively worse than other tires in this list. A slight increase in Noise level and MPG are other cons of this tire.
Warranty
- Falken offers 55,000 miles and 5 years treadwear warranty for Falken Wildpeak AT3W
- If you’re not satisfied with its performance, you can return it in 30 days or in the first 1000 miles.

Toyo Open Country AT3
Toyo Open Country AT3 is Toyo’s new generation all-terrain tire. Unlike its younger brother Open Country AT2, this tire can handle severe and mild off-road conditions very well. Moreover, it has pretty on-road manners that can easily compete with Toyo Open Country AT2. I’m in love with its design. Yet, nothing is perfect.

Toyo Open Country AT3 can be the best fit for you if you’re eager to sacrifice a bit from your comfort. Its wet, dry, and winter performances are phenomenal. Furthermore, it set it out full regarding off-road capability. In return, depending on the size it provides a bit bumpy ride. Well, I trade this minor decrease in comfort for the other alpha-plus features of Toyo Open Country AT3. Due to its wide product and application range, this tire can be used on SUVs, CUVs even on the 1-ton or above trucks. Even better, it provides long-lasting tread life for every size.
Warranty
- Toyo offers 5 years and 65,000 miles treadwear warranty for P-metric, 5 years and 55,000 miles for LT sizes
- You can return this product in 45-days or first 500 miles

General Grabber A/TX
General Grabber A/TX(review) is an all-terrain tire that is specially designed for full-size SUVs, and work vans, and especially for pickup truck owners. It seems to me that Grabber A/TX is a lottery pick if you’re a 3/4 ton of above truck or huge SUV owner who is looking for decent tread life. However, its highly-strengthed steel belts are specially designed for heavy vehicles. Hence, if you have a relatively lightweight vehicle (CUV or small SUV), you should get on with slight noise and a bit harsh ride.
General Grabber A/TX is a superior tire on this list if off-road performance is your priority. Even so, its mud performance is almost as impeccable as a mud-terrain tire. Sand, rock, or dirt, this tire can chew them all. Its traction capability is elegant. Moreover, it also offers extremely reliable winter performance. Due to its BFG KO2-like pattern, it offers huge handling no matter how heavy your vehicle is. What I like most about this tire is, that besides funkiness on and off-road manners, it also lasts like there is no tomorrow.
Warranty
- General offers 6 years and 60,000 miles treadwear warranty for P-metric sizes
- General offers 6 years and 50,000 miles treadwear warranty for LT and flotation sizes
- You can return this product in the first 45 days or 2/32” wear

BF Goodrich KO2
BF Goodrich KO2 is the first all-terrain tire. So actually all off-road tires were inspired by it. Due to its wide product range and positive customer comments, it’s one of the most popular all-terrain tires in the market. Well, people like me are debating a lot about its price performance balance. The performance is very good, I can’t say anything negative about it. At these prices though, the only reason I’m adding BFG KO2 to this list is out of respect.
BF Goodrich KO2 | |
---|---|
Best for | Smooth ride, great handling, mild & severe off-road especially beach and gravel |
Pros | Reliable off-road tire, responsiveness, winter performance |
Cons | A stiff ride for LT sizes, can be risky for wet driving after half of its tread life |
Test Report | vs Destination AT2 & Geolander AT G015 |
Vehicle | Light Truck, SUV |
Available Sizes (Rim) | 15’’, 16’’, 17’’, 18’’, 20’’, 22’’ (Ensure these tires fit your vehicle) |

Made In | Opelika, AL, USA |
Labels | 3PMSF |
Warranty (P-metric) | 50,000 Miles |
Warranty (LT Sizes) | 50,000 Miles |
BF Goodrich KO2 is one of the best tires for off-road. Especially if you’re doing rock crawling very often. Well, this is a perfect tire for adventurers. However, its tread life and comfort level are relatively worse than other tires on this list. On the other hand, I’m totally in love with its handling capability. Snow, wet or dry, BF Goodrich KO2 provides trustworthy handling and traction.
Warranty
- BF Goodrich offers 6 years and 50,000 miles treadwear warranty for this product
- You have 60 days of satisfying guarantee

Sumitomo Encounter AT
Sumitomo is a Japanese tire manufacturer that has been on the market for over 100 years. Encounter AT is their first all-terrain tire. Well, it has a limited product range with an affordable price level. So, the tire isn’t all-around like others on this list. However, it offers a performance that is well above the average in all aspects, but not perfect.
Sumitomo Encounter AT | |
---|---|
Best for | 4 season performance driven riding, Smooth & quiet driving, Aggressive appearance, Winter performance, |
Pros | 4-season traction, Winter beast, Affordable, Reliable off-road traction |
Cons | Since it’s performance-driven, its tread life is average Handling capability isn’t perfect |
Vehicle | SUV, CUV, Light Trucks |
Test Report | vs Wildpeak AT3W & General Grabber ATX (September 30, 2021) |
Available Sizes | 17”, 18”, 19”, 20”, 21”, 22” (Check if it fits your vehicle) |
Made In | Thailand |
Warranty | 60,000 miles |
Sumitomo Encounter AT is a great all-terrain tire for those who would like to combine satisfying on-road manners with a decent off-road performance. Well, the off-road performance is limited to mild ones (gravel, dirt, grass). However, its comfort and noise level are exceptional (learn how to make your tires last longer). Even so, it’s one of the best on this list. It’s not the best tire regarding tread life. Yet, it offers alpha-plus dry, wet, and winter traction.
Warranty
- Sumitomo offers 5 years and 60,000 miles treadwear warranty for this product
- 30 days test drive option
- 2-year road noise guarantee

Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus
Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus is a good-looking all-terrain tire that can be used on light trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. Since it’s a well-balanced tire, 88% of its users recommend and wanna use this tire again. This isn’t a surprise to me because Scorpion All-Terrain Plus’s size range is narrowed. Hence, the manufacturer is making better optimization by size and being better able to meet the needs of all sizes. Does it have cons? For sure. Let’s move on with its capability.
Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus provides one of the best handlings in the market because of its condensed center section. Even though its center section is condensed, its shoulder blocks are divided into many parts. Well, when you combine this with a stiff compound that offers highly acceptable tread life, it might be a little loud for crossover and SUV users. Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus provides alpha-plus traction on wet and dry surfaces. Moreover, this tire is marked with 3PMSF. Therefore, its winter performance is highly acceptable. However, its tread depth is slightly lower than other all-terrain tires on the market. Hence, its loose ground performance (mud, deep snow, etc.) is slightly behind other tires on the market.
Warranty
- Pirelli offers unlimited time and 50,000 miles treadwear warranty
- You can return it in 30 days (30 days trial)
Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus Warranty Brochure: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/PI0921.pdf
Continental TerrainContact A/T
Continental TerrainContact A/T is an all-terrain tire that is mostly focused on satisfying on-road manners and mild off-road. As you can see, the tire has a more straight pattern, especially straight shoulders. This feature limits its severe off-road capability. Still, if noise and cozy ride are your priorities, Continental Terraincontact is the best you can get. At least for light-truck users.
Continental Terraincontact A/T is a mild all-terrain tire. Even though it’s not an expert on mild off-road, its dry and wet traction capabilities are phenomenal. Moreover, it lasts for a very long time. In return, it’s like a regular all-season tire, it can only handle light snow. Not a trustworthy pick for severe winter conditions. In my point of view, smooth ride is what makes this tire special. Continental Terraincontact A/T can give you good looking and cozy ride at the same time.
Warranty
- Continental offers 6 years and 60,000 miles treadwear warranty for Terraincontact A/T
- Trial option for first 2/32” or 60-days
- 3 years of flat tire changing

Firestone Destination X/T
Firestone Destination X/T is an all-terrain tire that is specially developed for 3/4 ton or 1-ton light trucks, body-on-frame SUVs, and Jeeps. So, the tire is highly durable and tough. Though worth reminding, Firestone Destination X/T is the lightest LT tire in the market. So, if you don’t want to sacrifice from off-road adventure and also wanna save some fuel, you’re at the right place!
Firestone Destination XT | |
---|---|
Best for | Fuel efficiency for 3/4 ton or above light truck, smooth ride, light snow traction |
Test Report | vs Open Country AT3 & Grabber ATX & Discoverer AT3 LT (August 4, 2021) |
Category | All-Terrain Tire |
Vehicle | Light Truck, SUV |
Available Sizes (Rim) | 15”, 16”, 17”, 18”, 20” (Ensure these tires fit your vehicle) |
Weight | 35- 61 lbs |
Made In | Canada |
Labels | 3PMSF |
Warranty (P-metric) | 50,000 Miles |
Warranty (LT Sizes) | 50,000 Miles |
Firestone Destination X/T is an extra-strong and responsive all-terrain tire that can also provide a smooth and quiet ride. It can perfectly handle wet and dry surfaces. Well, its hydroplaning resistance is relatively lower due to its aggressive pattern. Yet, it’s still reliable. You may hear some about its poor winter performance. However, this isn’t true. I can accept that its ice performance is poor. However, its light-snow and deep-snow performances are acceptable. Guys, the tire is marked with 3PMSF. Last but not least, Firestone Destination X/T last as long as your all-season tire.
Warranty
- Firestone offers 5 years and 50,000 miles treadwear warranty for Destination X/T
- The manufacturer offers 90 days buy&try warranty
- You have 5 years of free replacement in case of any material-caused issue
Firestone Destination X/T Warranty Brochure: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/BS0121.pdf
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT is another all-terrain tire that is extremely suitable for heavy vehicles. What sets this tire apart from Firestone Destination X/T is it can be used on work trucks. I put these tires somewhere between the all-terrain tires and highway tires. This tire is an expert on mild off-road. However, its loose ground performance is limited.
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT is a work-oriented all-terrain tire. It lasts long and provides trustworthy handling on loaded use. Due to its compact pattern, it also provides unique traction as well as offers quick steering response and cornering stability. Furthermore, it provides decent traction on wet and dry grounds. However, its winter performance is limited. I don’t recommend it for severe winter conditions.
Warranty
- Cooper offers 60,000 miles or 6 years treadwear warranty for this product
- 45 days road test warranty is on the table
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT Warranty Brochure: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/CP0122.pdf
Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail
Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail is the first all-terrain tire in this list that is specified for SUVs and CUVs. So, it’s not available on LT sizes. However, if you’re SUV or CUV owner who loves to play in nature, this dude will give you everything without sacrificing any feature of the all-season tire.
Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail | |
---|---|
Best for | SUV and CUV owner who is looking for an aggressive appearance, Squishy and snowy regions, weekend adventure |
Test Report | vs Trail Terrain T/A & Geolander AT G015 (September 13, 2021) |
Category | All-Terrain Tire |
Vehicle | Light Truck, SUV |
Available Sizes (Rim) | 16”, 17”, 18”, 19”, 20” (Ensure these tires fit your vehicle) |
Weight | 26 – 42 lbs |
Made In | Thailand or China |
Labels | 3PMSF |
Warranty (P-metric) | 65,000 Miles |
Warranty (LT Sizes) | Not available on LT sizes |
Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail is the most complete tire in the market. It lasts like an all-season tire, is responsive like a summer tire, and provides all-terrain traction. Moreover, it’s beast on snow. The loose ground performance what is surprised me despite such good features. No matter mud, deep snow, or gravel, the tire provides unique traction. Well, you can have it all.. in return for a slight vocal ride. No worries, I’m talking about something like winter tires. Nothing more.
Warranty
- Falken offers 65,000 miles or 5 years treadwear warranty for this product
- You can try it for 1000 miles or 30 days
Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/FA0119.pdf
Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S
Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is an all-terrain tire that is specially built for satisfying daily driving. Even though Cooper claim that tire can be used on light trucks also, LT sizes aren’t available. Hence, I recommend these tires only for 1/2 ton ( Ford F-150, Silverado 1500, etc.) pickups among the light trucks. On the other hand, it’s a really good option for SUV and CUV owners who wants to add some off-road capability.
Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S | |
---|---|
Best for | Mostly on-road driving, Winter traction, Below 5,000 lb vehicles |
Pros | Smooth & quiet ride, Light-snow and deep snow traction, Occasional off-road traction |
Cons | Wears fast on long-time gravel usage, Half-depth sipes, Wears fast on warm-weather hauling & towing applications |
Vehicle | SUV, CUV, 1/2 ton light trucks |
Test Report | Read the full test report (July 11, 2022) |
Available Sizes | 15”, 16”, 17”, 18”, 20”, 22” (Check if it fits your vehicle) |
Made In | United States |
Warranty | 65,000 miles |
Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is an all-terrain tire that can handle mild off-road very well. Unlike most all-terrain tires, this tire can handle wet ground with ease and provide decent hydroplaning resistance. Hence, it’s a trustworthy tire if you like driving fast in the pouring rain. Furthermore, its winter performance is highly acceptable. In fact, it’s one of the best ice tires in its segment due to its compact pattern. Compared to Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail, Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S offers a smoother and less vocal ride. Moreover, Discoverer AT3 4S is a lighter tire. Hence, it’s more suitable for hauling and towing and offers better MPG.
Warranty
- Cooper offers 6 years of 65,000 miles treadwear warranty for this product
- Cooper offers 45 days road test guarantee
Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S Warranty Brochure: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/CP0122.pdf
Firestone Destination A/T2
Firestone Destination A/T2 is a perfect fit if you drive mostly highway and weekend off-road. This tire is only available in p-metric sizes. Hence, its product range is limited with 1/2 ton pickups. I like to call this tire a Kind of Mild Condition. Mild off-road and mild winter is its expertise. When you combine these features with extremely satisfying on-road manners and long-lasting rubber, it’s not hard to call it one of the best all-terrain tires for daily driving.
Firestone Destination AT2 | |
---|---|
Best for | Mostly highway driving, SUV and CUVs, light-truck owners who are focused on road manners, mild off-road traction |
Test Report | vs TerrainContact AT & Pinza AT (July 7, 2022) |

Warranty (P-metric) | 55,000 Miles |
Warranty (LT Sizes) | 55,000 Miles |
Firestone Destination A/T2 is a mild all-terrain tire that provides exceedingly good handling on the highway. The tire supports its unique handling capability with a long-lasting rubber and huge traction on wet, dry, and snowy surfaces. Though worth reminding, if you’d like to use these tires on 3/4 ton or 1-ton pickups, you should sacrifice these great features. So, I don’t recommend it. Compared to its competitors, Firestone Destination AT2 is quiet and provides a smooth ride.
Warranty
- Firestone offers 5 years or 55,000 miles of treadwear warranty
- 90 days buy & try warranty
Firestone Destination A/T2 Warranty Brochure: https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/BS0121.pdf
Conclusion
While preparing this list, I tried to divide it into as many layers as possible. In my opinion, it is much more effective to choose one of 2-3 tires from a list prepared according to your vehicle and needs, instead of waiting for you to choose from my 30 tire recommendations.
If you don’t have all day, you can use the below table for a quick summary.
All-Terrain Tires Cheat Sheet
Finding the ideal all-terrain tire among the plethora of options available can be overwhelming. But don’t worry, my team and I have taken on this challenge head-on. Besides our hands-on experiences with these tires, we also analyze thousands of customer reviews and test reports.
We also analyzed ‘What customer complains more about all-terrain tires?’. Even though some of these complains are coming from the nature of all-terrain tires, there is still way to prevent yourself from these issues. Below, you can see articles about, hydroplaning, tire noise

Please note that: Light-Duty is 1500 series, Medium-Duty is 2500 series and Heavy-Duty is 3500 series. If you do towing or hauling, I recommend considering at least Medium-Duty tires.

Take-Home Points:
- LT sizes have stronger sidewalls. That feature makes them more durable. Yet, these tires offer a rougher ride. (LT vs P-Metric tires)
- XL sizes tend to carry more load and offer better handling. Hence, if you’ll go with p-metric sizes, they might be a better pick for hauling and towing( XL vs SL tires)
- Please pay attention to the load index & load range and speed index. These metrics are essential if you expect decent tread life
- There isn’t a bad tire in the market right now, you should just know what to expect from tires
