P Zero Nero M+S is an ultra-high performance(UHP) tire that can perform in 4 seasons. This tire is specifically built for the North American region. However, it’s only available for 24” rim size. Since it’s hard to design UHP tires for 4 seasons, these tires have pros and cons. Let’s dig into it and see them!

As a former Bridgestone engineer, from my standpoint, Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S offers decent dry traction. Moreover, it provides quick steering response and straight handling. Its best feature is wet performance. Its wet traction and hydroplaning resistance are outstanding. However, Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S provides a comfortable but a bit noisy ride. Its tread life isn’t great but acceptable. Lastly, I don’t recommend this tire for winter usage.

Dry Performance
Dry performance is the main duty of this tire. At the same time, it’s also where it’s best at. Yet, I would like to evaluate dry performance under two different dimensions. Traction and handling. Let’s talk about them one by one. Yet, these tires follow the cracks on the road (Trimline). Hence, you might feel like losing handling from time to time.
Dry Traction
Dry traction is where this tire shines. Due to its high-silica compound, its tread is fluffy and stick. This soft compound might be counted as a deficiency at some points. Yet, it’s a solid feature for decent dry traction.
Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S has decent dry traction.
Handling
Dry handling is vital but it’s not hard to reach for wide UHP tires.
Due to its durable and tough internal structure and continuous rib type pattern, Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S provides trustworthy handling.
Comfort
Comfort isn’t the main task for UHP tires. These tires are built for performance, not comfort. If comfort is your priority, I recommend you to go with touring tires.
Luckily, Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S provides an above-average comfort. It’s not the best in its category but it’s one of the top contesters. In that case, its high silica compound and polyester cord body get into the game and provide the flexibility it needs.
Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S is a medium comfortable tire. Yet, this level is what you can get most from most UHP tires.
Road Noise
Due to its asymmetric pattern and relatively high void area ratio, P Zero Nero M+S is a slightly noisy tire. However, the road noise is bearable and nothing more than any regular UHP tire.
A side note here: Even though some tires tend to make noise because of their tread patterns, it’s still possible to keep your tire noise down.
I’m leaving a perfect explanation below from DiscountTire for those who need it;

Wet Performance
Wet performance can be evaluated under two different dimensions. Hydroplaning resistance and wet traction.
Wet traction is relatively easier for UHP tires. However, the main issue is hydroplaning resistance. In that case, its M+S marking is helping a lot.
Hydroplaning Resistance
M+S marking means mud and snow traction. It doesn’t mean this tire can perform in snow and mud but it means this tire has enough void area to provide traction on loose grounds.
That void area is what you need for water evacuation. Edgeways, hydroplaning resistance.
Due to its 4 circumferential groove design and open shoulders, P Zero Nero M+S offers decent hydroplaning resistance. It takes its place among the best UHP tires for wet grounds.
Note: Hydroplaning is vital for a safe ride under the pouring rain. However, it might occur even with the best tire. Maybe you can’t prevent it but if you know what it is and how to deal with it, you can easily stay on the safe side.
Here is an extremely efficient guide about ‘How to Deal with Hydroplaning?‘ –> https://www.discounttire.com/learn/hydroplaning
Wet Traction
Wet traction is easy for this tire. Due to its highly notched and sticky rubber, it provides alpha plus wet traction.
Note: Wet traction contains start, stop, and acceleration.
Winter Performance
M+S doesn’t mean good snow traction all the time. Due to its V-shaped full-depth center section sipes, its self-cleaning ability is very limited. It will work on light snow. Yet, a couple of inches of snow causes some trouble. I don’t recommend this tire for winter usage.
Tread Wear
Expecting decent tread life from maximum performance tire is a bit illusion. P Zero Nero M+S isn’t awful. Yet, in my point of view, it’s not more than average.
Its soft compound wears quickly. Moreover, this is a performance tire. It is exposed to heat most of the time and heat is the enemy of long-lasting rubber. So, in my point of view, you can get somewhere between 50,000-60,000 miles with this tire which is exceedingly acceptable for UHP tires.
Note: I recommend you rotate this tire every 5,000-6,000 miles. This increases your tread life dramatically.
Getting maximum wear life from a tire is related to you as well as your tire,
If you’d like to learn how to get maximum tread life:
Warranty
Pirelli doesn’t offer any tread life warranty for this product. However, uniformity and material warranty are still valid.

Sizes
Pirelli has been narrowed its product range because of the uneven wear issues. You can find the available sizes below.
- P255/30ZR24 – 97W
- P285/30ZR24 – 103W
- P405/25ZR24 – 116W
For Better Understanding: 215/55R17 94V SL
215: Tire Width
55: Aspect Ratio
R: Radial
17: Rim Size
94: Load Index
V: Speed Index
SL: Load Range(can be XL also)
Note: This tire name contains ZR instead of R. No worries, that just means this tire is specific for high-speed usage(above 150mph).

Conclusion
Even though some of you like them, I’m personally not a fan of UHP all-season tires. Well, there’re some good options like Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus(product page). Yet, options are highly limited.
Pirelli P Zero Nero(product page) is one of the best UHP All-Season tires. I strongly recommend it if you frequently face the rain.
