According to the above data, Land Rover Range Rover Sport has 4 different rim sizes. 19”, 20”, 21” and 22”. Some models are even available for two different sizes. The reason behind this is customer expectation. While 19” and 21” inch sizes are better for sports usage, 20” and 22” are better for off-roading, cargo, and inner-city driving comfort.
I have another article in that I’ve evaluated these sizes and shared the best tires for these sizes. You can click here to reach out!
Take-Home Points for Tire Selection
Before you’ve made your choice, the below points should be taken into consideration.
- Speed Index – The letter comes after tire size(Y, W, V)
- Load Index – 3 digit number come after the letter(106, 107, 108, 110)
- Load Range – It might be XL or SL, for this vehicle I recommend only XL tires
Table of Contents
Vredestein Quatrac Pro - Grand Touring
Quatrac Pro is Vredestein’s grand touring tire. Grand Touring tires are a perfect choice for those who need comfort and trustworthy driving. Due to their load ranges, they can perform smoothly under mid-size vehicles. Moreover, they can resist the high-torque power with ease. Therefore, Vredestein Quatrac Pro is a solid tire for powerful vehicles. I recommend these tires for long-range and inner city driving.
As a former Bridgestone engineer, from my standpoint, Vredestein Quatrac Pro has a huge traction capability. This tire combines its traction ability with a smooth and quiet ride. Due to its open shoulders and circumferential 4 grooves, it can evacuate the water easily. Thus, its wet performance at high velocity is trustworthy. It has very-well notched rubber that increases its light-snow traction capability significantly. Though worth reminding, its ice and deep snow performance are limited. However, this tire focus on a cozy ride. Therefore, it doesn’t last as long as firm and rough all-season tires.
Note: Vredestein Quatrac Pro has 50,000 miles tread life warranty. Hence, tread life isn’t a big issue but compared to other features, it stays behind.
Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 - For Fast and a bit Furios Driving
Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 is an ultra-high performance all-season tire. UHP(ultra-high performance) tires generally have poor tread lives due to their soft and slick compounds. However, Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 is extraordinary. Its tread can last as long as regular all-season tires(it has similar tread life with Vredestein Quatrac Pro). Well, that feature makes it my choice for this category.
In summary, Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 is a reliable tire. Due to its soft compound and very well-placed sipes, it has intense traction ability. Even in squishy conditions. Unlike most UHP tires, it has 4 circumferential grooves that can evacuate water and keep you safe while driving fast under the pelting rain. It can handle light snow, though, I don’t recommend using it in severe winter conditions. In that case, Vredestein Quatrac Pro is a better option.
If you like fast driving even if it’s raining or snowing, I strongly recommend this tire! It also has 45,000 miles treadwear warranty which is rare among UHP tires.
Pirelli Scorpion Winter - Hello Northern Folks!
Scorpion Winter(review) is performance winter tires. I would like to state the performance modifier one more time because the market is highly limited in this category. Luckily, Pirelli Scorpion Winter can cover all customer expectations. Even though it’s a winter tire, it will outperform your expectations in every aspect.
In summary, Pirelli Scorpion Winter is an extremely smooth tire due to its unique internal construction and fluffy compound. However, its fluffy compound decreases its tread life slightly. Though, that’s the general feature of all winter tires. Regarding traction, it’s unique. Due to its asymmetrical design and extremely notched rubber, it grips like no other on this list. This tire is indestructible in severe winter conditions. The only aspect that stays behind is noise. It’s not like church mouse but let’s say slightly worse than Vredestein Quatrac Pro.
Note: Pirelli Scorpion Winter doesn’t have a tread life warranty. However, I can confidently say that it lasts as long as an ordinary winter tire.
Toyo Open Country AT3 - For Adventure Lovers
Toyo Open Country AT3 is an all-terrain tire. I’m in love with this tire due to its wide application and product range. If you want a tire with an aggressive look and cozy ride, unlike other all-terrain tires, Toyo Open Country AT3(detailed info) is on your service. Though worth reminding, all-terrain tires are noisy and a bit stiff compared to all-season tires. These are what you have sacrifice for severe and mild off-road driving.
In summary, Toyo Open Country AT3 is a beast for off-road driving. Due to its beefy sidewalls, it can absorb external forces with eases. However, these strong sidewalls make it a bit firm for daily driving. If you like severe off-roading, you need LT sizes and that will make your tire stiffer and damage your comfort. Return to the subject, it has reliable wet and dry traction. Moreover, it’s the best tire on this list for severe winter conditions. What I like most about this tire is its uneven wearing ability. It wears evenly on highway driving and that promotes long-lasting tread life.
Note: Toyo offers 65,000 miles treadwear warranty for p-metric and 50,000 miles for LT sizes.
