Rugged-Terrain tires are engineered for their aggressive appearance and superior loose ground traction. In my view, they sit somewhere between mud-terrain and off-road all-terrain tires. Due to their aggressive tread structure, these tires typically generate more noise than all-terrain varieties and offer a rougher ride.
From my observations, the wet and winter performance of these tires slightly lags behind that of off-road all-terrain tires. However, they’re a good option for vehicles like 3/4 ton or larger pickup trucks and Jeeps, especially for drivers who prioritize traction and appearance.
